CLIN 98 First Announcement Computational Linguistics in the Netherlands Ninth CLIN Meeting Friday, 11 December, 1998 Center for Computational Linguistics University of Leuven We are happy to announce the ninth CLIN meeting, which will be hosted by the Center for Computational Linguistics of the University of Leuven. The meeting will take place in the Faculty of Arts building (Erasmushuis). The languages of the conference will be Dutch and English. The local organisers of this year's meeting are Frank Van Eynde and Ineke Schuurman. Researchers are invited to present papers on all aspects of computational linguistics (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, machine translation, computational lexicography, formal languages, grammar formalisms, information retrieval, knowledge representation, corpus-oriented methods, etc.). Authors should submit an abstract in English or Dutch to the local organisers (preferably by e-mail, in flat ASCII). The abstract should contain: - a title - your name, address, affiliation, and e-mail address - a short outline of the paper (10-20 lines) You can send your abstract to: clin98@ccl.kuleuven.ac.be or, if email is not possible, to: CLIN 98 University of Leuven Center for Computational Linguistics Maria-Theresiastraat 21 B-3000 LEUVEN Deadline for the submission is 4 October 1998. Notification of acceptance (by e-mail): 16 October 1998. A volume with proceedings of the Eighth CLIN meeting (held 12 December 1997, in Nijmegen) will be available at this year's meeting. We intend to produce a volume of the proceedings of CLIN 98 before CLIN 99. Papers for these proceedings will have to be written in English; they will be reviewed by a committee to be appointed in due time.
