Second Call For Papers Ninth Annual International Symposium on Algorithms and Computation ISAAC'98 December 14--16, 1998, Taejon, Korea ------------------------------------- http://jupiter.kaist.ac.kr/~isaac98 ------------------------------------- The Ninth Annual International Symposium on Algorithms and Computation will be held in Taejon, Korea, December 14--16, 1998. The symposium is intended to provide a forum for researchers working in algorithms and the theory of computation. Papers presenting original research in the areas of design and analysis of algorithms, computational complexity, and theory of computation are sought. Typical, but not exclusive, topics of interest include: * Algorithms and Data Structures * Parallel and Distributed Algorithms * Automata and Formal Languages * Computational Geometry * Combinatorial Optimization * Computational Learning Theory * Cryptography and Complexity Theory * Probabilistic and Randomized Algorithms Program Committee: Kyung-Yong Chwa (Co-Chair;KAIST, Korea) Oscar Ibarra (Co-Chair;UC Santa Barbara, USA) Takao Asano (Chuo U., Japan) Ding-Zhu Du (U. of Minnesota, USA) Susanne Hambrusch (Purdue U., USA) Hiroshi Imai (U. of Tokyo, Japan) Tao Jiang (McMaster U., Canada) Sam Kim (Kyungpook Nat. U., Korea) D.T. Lee (Northwestern U., USA) Ming Li (U. of Waterloo, Canada) Pandu Rangan (IIT, Madras, India) Sartaj Sahni (U. of Florida, USA) P. Spirakis (Comp. Tech. Inst., Patras, Greece) Roberto Tamassia (Brown U., USA) Shanghua Teng (U. of Illinois, USA) Osamu Watanabe (Tokyo Inst. Tech., Japan) Peter Widmayer (ETH, Zurich, Switzerland) Chee K. Yap (Courant Inst., NYU, USA) Hsu-Chun Yen (National Taiwan U., Taiwan) Important dates: Submission of Papers May 24, 1998 Notification of Accept. July 26, 1998 Final Version due August 8, 1998 Submissions: Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract or full draft paper before May 24, 1998, by surface mail or e-mail, to the Program Committee Co-Chair: Kyung-Yong Chwa -- ISAAC'98 (e-mail: submission@jupiter.kaist.ac.kr) Department of Computer Science Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology 373-1 Kusong-dong, Yusong-gu Taejon, 305-701, Korea An abstract should start with the title of the paper, each author's name, affiliation, and e-mail address, and a one-paragraph summary of the results. The extended abstract should provide sufficient detail to allow the Program Committee to evaluate its validity, quality, and relevance to the symposium. The length of the extended abstract should not exceed ten (10) letter-sized pages (using 11 point or larger font, with ample margins all around). More details may be given in appendix but any material beyond the 10-page limit may be ignored at the discretion of the Program Committee. For hard copy submissions, send 15 copies of an extended abstract to the Co-Chair Kyung-Yong Chwa. Alternatively (and preferably), submit a standard postscript version of the draft by an e-mail. To get the instruction for electronic submissions, visit our web pages at http://jupiter.kaist.ac.kr/~isaac98/, or e-mail to submission@jupiter.kaist.ac.kr with subject HELP.\\ Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection by July 26, 1998. The proceedings are accepted in principle for publication in the Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science series. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of Theoretical Computer Science.
